When is Family Weekend?
Family Weekend will be held Friday, Sept. 20 - Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013. This is a great time to visit campus to see your student's home away from home! Social and educational family-friendly programs are planned for the weekend so you and your family can enjoy campus, learn more about The University of Alabama, and experience the pride and tradition of Alabama football.
How do I register for Family Weekend?
Family Weekend registration is available on the Parent Programs website on the registration page. Registration will be open from Monday, June 10 at 10 a.m. (CST) through Friday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. (CST).
How much does the Family Weekend package cost, and what does it include?
Family Weekend packages cost $48 and can be purchased for the weekend once registration opens. A package includes admission for one person to participate in the Beach Bash, the Family Weekend Tailgate, and the Student Affairs Expo & Jazz Brunch. Your purchase of this package also makes you eligible to purchase football tickets for the Alabama v. Colorado State game. (Football tickets are a separate purchase and are not part of the Family Weekend Package. Upon purchasing a Family Weekend package, you will receive a discount code to use in the purchase of your Family Weekend football tickets). The purchase of a Family Weekend package also includes tickets for your UA student for the Beach Bash, the Family Weekend Tailgate, and the Student Affairs Expo & Jazz Brunch. Included students tickets are to be used by current UA students only.
Do I have to purchase a package?
If you would like to attend the Family Weekend Tailgate, you must purchase a package. The package also comes with tickets to the Beach Bash and the Student Affairs Expo & Jazz Brunch, but you have the option to purchase tickets to those events separately through the a la carte option. A ticket to the Family Weekend tailgate cannot be purchased a la carte. A package purchase is also required for eligibility to purchase football tickets for the Alabama v. Colorado State game. You may be eligible to purchase one football ticket per package.
What if I only attend one event during Family Weekend?
A la carte options are available for the Beach Bash on Friday night and the Student Affairs Expo & Jazz Brunch on Sunday morning. A la carte tickets for these events cost $15 per person. People attending with an a la carte ticket do not get an automatic student ticket for the event. A separate ticket for the student must be purchased at the same cost of $15.
How do I purchase a Family Weekend t-shirt?
T-shirts can be purchased separately when purchasing a Family Weekend package or a la carte item but are not included in the Family Weekend package. T-shirts will be $12 each only available in adult sizes S-XXL.
What if I already made a purchase but want to purchase additional items?
A purchase cannot be changed once it has been made. You will need to make a new purchase by using your tix.com login information to reenter the registration site. This will be a separate purchase from your initial order. You will have two separate orders that show up under your account.
How do I review my order?
Go to tix.com, scroll to the bottom of the page, click on "Account" on the menu in the footer, and login with your tix.com username and password that you created when you placed your order.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards are all accepted methods of payment for your Family Weekend purchases.
What events can my student attend?
Your student is invited to attend all Family Weekend events with your family. If you purchase a Family Weekend package, your UA student's event tickets are included for the Beach Bash, the Family Weekend Tailgate, and the Student Affairs Expo & Jazz Brunch. Students must present a ticket for entry into these events.
What do I need for entry into the Family Weekend events?
You are required to wear your Family Weekend nametag and present your ticket at each major event (Beach Bash, Family Weekend Tailgate, and Student Affairs Expo & Jazz Brunch). Nametags will be provided to all family members visiting the UA campus at registration. Tickets for each event will be provided to family members and UA students at registration. Students are not required to wear a nametag.
When should we plan to arrive? Do parents stay for the whole weekend?
Families are encouraged to arrive on Friday so they can enjoy the many events planned for Friday. Events are schedule for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so plan to stay for the entire weekend if you can!
Where do I stay for Family Weekend?
Most parents make hotel reservations for the weekend. Certain hotels have agreed to block rooms for Family Weekend. Check out the accommodations page for more information.
Where can I park during Family Weekend? And how do I get around campus during Family Weekend?
On Friday, parking is available in the soccer lots in front of the intramural fields near the Student Recreation Center off of University Boulevard. A Family Weekend Shuttle (a chartered Crimson Ride bus) will be making stops at the soccer lots, the Ferguson Center Student Union and the President's Mansion to help you get around campus. A bus will also transport you from the soccer lots to the Outdoor Pool Complex for Beach Bash on Friday.On Saturday, game day parking will be enforced. On Sunday, University parking regulations are not enforced, so parking is allowed in legal parking spots across campus. Parking is also available throughout the weekend in the Ferguson Center Parking Deck for $5/day. Specific parking maps for Family Weekend will provided closer to the event.Directions to the Soccer Lots: From McFarland Boulevard (Highway 82), take the University Boulevard exit going west towards campus. Travel less than one mile, then turn right onto Second Avenue. Turn right at the stop sign; the parking lot will be ahead. The Family Weekend Shuttle can transport you to the Ferguson Center Student Union for Family Weekend Check-In.
How can I purchase tickets to the Family Weekend football game?
Football tickets for the Colorado State football game can be purchased through the Athletic Ticket Office by using the promotional code you receive in your confirmation email after purchasing the Family Weekend package. For every Family Weekend package purchased, you are eligible to purchase a football ticket on a separate transaction. After making your Family Weekend package purchase, a football ticket code will be included on your Family Weekend confirmation/e-ticket that will be sent to your email address. Once you receive the code, you can purchase football tickets by visiting the Football Tickets section of the Parent Programs website. Any questions regarding football tickets should be directed to the Athletic Ticket Office at 1-877-TIDETIX.
If I purchase a Family Weekend package, am I guaranteed a football ticket?
No, football tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Purchasing a Family Weekend package makes you eligible to buy a football ticket to the Alabama v. Colorado State game. We encourage you to purchase the package early to help make sure you will get football tickets. Registration goes live on Monday, June 10 at 10 a.m. (CST). We will post a notice on the Family Weekend website once the football tickets have sold out.
How does my student get a ticket for the football game?
Student tickets for the football games are distributed online and are available on their Action Card. Depending on the package your student purchased, your student may or may not ready already have a ticket to the Colorado State game. Please check with them to see if they have a ticket to the game during Family Weekend. Student tickets are located in the student section, which is in a different location in the stadium from the tickets that parents purchase. However, it is very typical for parents and students to enjoy the Family Weekend Tailgate together and then meet up after the game. Your student should have enough time to attend the tailgate and still meet his/her friends before entering the student section.
I want to sit with my student at the football game. What do I need to do?
In order to sit with your student at the football game, you must also purchase a Family Weekend package for him/her. Student tickets are located in the student section, which is in a different location in the stadium from the tickets that parents purchase.
We have a family member in a wheelchair. Can we get around to all the events?
All events during Family Weekend are handicapped accessible, including the football game on Saturday. When you purchase football tickets, there will be wheelchair accessible options. Visit gameday.ua.edu for accessible parking information and also information regarding wheelchair accessibility in Bryant-Denny Stadium. If you have additional questions regarding wheelchair accessibility, contact the Athletic Ticket Office at 1-877-TIDETIX.
Are refunds available?
All Family Weekend purchases are non-refundable.
I missed the Family Weekend registration deadline. What can I do?
Registration for Family Weekend closes on Friday Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. (CST). If you miss this deadline, we still encourage you to visit your student. There are a variety of campus exhibits and additional events that are open to all families. No late registrations will be accepted.
